Something that’s making me smile today: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/magazinemonitor/2008/09/paper_monitor_530.shtml
A good run-down of the nation’s (UK’s) papers and their respective character, e.g.
Over in the Guardian “X Factor fills vacuum left by God in schools, says head” fits the bill for pop-culture-but-viewed-down-our-noses.
Actually, the BBC’s Magazine is a bit of their website I didn’t normally come across too often until I signed up to their twitter feed. Since then, found some nice little stories. Worth a follow, I would say.
Birthday present
So, it’s a big number for me, and I decided a while ago I wanted to join the DSLR club – now I’m the (very!) proud owner of a Canon 450D with the 18-55mm kit lens and a 70-300mm Tamron lens as well.
It’s taking me a little while to get used to the DSLR but having played around with a few people’s before, it’s not too difficult. My friends are starting to get a little annoyed at the sheer volume of snaps I am taking of them while testing out various different settings, but they’ll get used to it…
New debating society site
We’re working on a new version of our society website at the moment – for testing purposes it’s up at www.debating.org/dev/ for now, until we’re happy enough to move it over completely to debating.org.
Let me know what you think here, there or anywhere. All feedback is welcome, especially as we try and utilise more free and open tools to keep connected and in conversation with our members.
