Fitting the battle of life

The daily grind from my angle.

About Me

without comments

I’m a 21 year old guy who English Literature in London, with a keen interest not only in English (of course) but also Linux and the open-source community (I run Ubuntu now on my old Dell laptop, after a year of dual booting with Windows XP), as well as digital photography. My main extra-curricular activity at uni was debating; the society website (installed and maintained during my time there by me) can be found here. I’ve had two letters in the Guardian, which I suppose makes me some kind of centre-leftie. They’re both quite old ones.

For the academic year 2009/10, I will be taking up my post as Education Officer at UCL Union. It’s a paid sabbatical post, being part of the team that runs the Union day-to-day, with specific responsibility to represent students and their views to College.

My favourite books include Tristram Shandy, Ulysses and all of the novels of B.S. Johnson that I’ve been able to find and read. Other writers I like include (Virginia) Woolf, Wordsworth, Coleridge, Pope and so on.

This blog will host various thoughts/ramblings on open-source, literature, my life, my work, and other general interests. I might add a new favourite word every week, if I remember. The name comes from the song ‘Joshua fit de battle of Jericho’ – seeing as my name is Josh, that should make at least some sense. The k and b are the first letters of my middle and last names respectively. [jerichokb is also my nick on irc, and username on various forums around the web.]

I think that’s about it for the about page for now. I had a horribly cheesey picture up but removed it because it almost broke my screen.
